Winter already leads to a significant drop in moisture in the air, and with the addition of heaters when we're warming up at home or work; it can be difficult to maintain proper skin moisture.
Hydrating Masks
I like to apply a sheet mask once every week, on a Sunday so I feel pampered before a new week begins and to rehydrate my skin after a week of being at the mercy of frosty winds.
Quret sheet masks
Quret sheet masks from Dischem are my favourite because they are affordable and they do not irritate my sensitive skin although they are fragranced. They actually do the job of hydrating my skin, leaving it plump, dewy and glowy.
Hydrating Moisturisers
Cerave Salicylic Acid Lotion for Rough and Bumpy Skin
There is a possibility that this moisturiser was intended to use on the body (excluding face) but I use it on my face, especially my T-zone where I usually start peeling due to dryness in winter. It helps calm and hydrate my face when it is breaking out due to irritation caused by overheating (I wear every warm item I own). It creates a soothing barrier against the harsh weather conditions.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream
Baaabe, this moisturiser calms and cools the skin soooo good. Amazing. When nothing else is working and I am having a bad reaction to something I can count on this to pacify my skin while hydrating it with all that hyaluronic acid and good stuff juicy chemicals in it.
Water
Drink your water, it's freezing I know and we all want our hot chocolate but we still need to keep up our water intake. I am mainly preaching to myself here because I struggle to drink enough water in winter due to my small bladder which seems to get even smaller during the colder months. So I have taken to keeping a 5 litre bottle at my bedside with a glass on my nightstand and I am not allowed to exit my room or start getting ready without drinking at least one glass of that water.
Sunscreen
Do not slack on your spf just because the sun looks bleak. I am guilty of this, when it looks overcast I sometimes don't apply sunscreen. I am playing myself though because the sun is still giving off its UV rays and UVB rays and all the other variations.
Cheers to plump, juicy skin.
