Halfway through, Let's review

We are now almost halfway through 2021 - yes I can believe it - and I think you will agree with me that life is going way waaay better than it was this time last year. Although we are still on lockdown it isn't as strict and there is real hope of a post-pandemic world. Your life might still be confined at home or you might have returned to a semi-regular life, either way, you might be feeling some mid-year blues mixed in with some winter blues.

One way to take the blues away is to do a mid-year review and clap for your own damn self for living and laughing and making progress on the goals you set when the year began. This is not a report card or performance evaluation to prove your efficiency or contribution. It is a check-in moment, with yourself and no one else.

For a really good mid-year review you need to first get cosy; take a hot shower or deep soak, play some Gregory Porter - shameless jazz plug - put on something warm and spritz some perfume, it's never too early or late to smell good. Get comfortable and ask yourself some of these questions:

  • What three lessons have I learned these last few months, whether at school, work or home or from nature or people?

  • What is/are milestone(s) that I achieved these past few months?

  • What were my thoughts around each win?

  • What are the best purchase(s) I have made - things can bring joy in the way make our lives easier, aesthetically pleasing to us and connected to others

  • What is/are the best financial decision(s) I have made these past few months?

  • How have been showing love to myself?

  • I will be over the moon if by the end of 2021...

This can be done mentally but putting it down on paper or in your phone is so much more fun because you get to revisit it in future. And here are so many other questions, that are more specific or more vague on the internet. You might have noticed that the questions are more skewed to the positive, I figured why the fuck not, the world has already indoctrinated us into the cult of insecurity so celebrate let's celebrate ourselves like we have no flaws.

Remember, everything is relative.

that's cute xoxo
