Just a list of frivolous books that won't make you think too deeply while you're trying relax this festive season and my thoughts of them. Dear Authors, please don't sue me these are just opinions not facts.
THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO
Taylor Jenkins Reid
I mean Evelyn is a bad bitch through and through. She is not manipulative, she is just observant. And she doesn't hide it so if you fall for it then you're the sucker.
VERITY
Colleen Hoover
I think the part of the plot of this book was "stolen" from the 1945, Leave Her to Heaven. But don't come for me Colleen Hoover, I am just saying. But men love crazy women anyway so she could have been inspired by plenty other things.
EVERY SUMMER AFTER
Carly Fortune
You know girl and guy become really close platonic friends but secretly develop feelings for each other, this pair at least attempts to date. But you know young love, it is doomed to fail.
PEOPLE WE MEET ON VACATION
Emily Henry
You know girl and guy become really close platonic friends but secretly develop feelings for each other, which they each ignore until something happens that forces them to confront their feelings. There is a bit of religion but it's inconsequential to the plot, just the author trying to make the character more complex I think.
BEFORE AND AGAIN
Barbara Delinsky
Couple in love loses a child and divorce as a result. Then they, somehow, coincidentally relocate to the same very small town. Then they fall back in love, let's hope it lasts this time.
I'VE GOT YOUR NUMBER
Sophie Kinsella
You know those annoying people who are always trying prove how smart they are and how dumb you are, like they can never have fun light-hearted conversations. The Tavishes are those people, like we know you're intelligent and accomplished but can you just chill. I really don't know why Poppy tries because people like that you're supposed to completely shut out even if they are your future in-laws, especially when they are your future in-laws to set the tone. Also why does she refer to Annelise as her friend. Also Sam sounds sooo much cuter than Magnus.
THYME OUT
Katie Fforde
Perdita is living my dream life, running a semi-organic small holding aka horticulture business in the country side, wearing gumboots all day everyday. Of course excluding the sassy ex-husband who might become a new beau again. But Lucas is so annoying and rude.
COURTING TROUBLE
Kathy Lette
You know the story of the woman who gets married too young then centres her identity and worth around her douchebag husband but then the husband, because he is a douchebag, cheats on her. This book starts out like that, but she gets her life together with the help of her bomb-ass mother with some twists and turns obvy.
